Close win for the Ducks |
---------------------------------- Devil Ducks vs. Haskey 4 : 3 ----------------------------------
The DevilDucks completed their last game with a 4-3 victory against the Belgium Team Haskey at the Aachener Tivoli SportsCenter on Friday night.
In the first two periods the Ducks were able to create a lot of scoring chances and could consistently pressurize the Haskey's defense. The first goal came when Ducks winger, M.Schleger, managed to break into the opponents zone and all by himself shot the puck passed Haskey's netminder. A couple of minutes later, Haskey's goaltender made a crucial move with his stick, after a shot from the slot and injured his back. There was no replacement in sight, so the Ducks, in true sportsmanship, replaced the positon with their second goalie.
Frederic you're the man, i've seen your films!
Midway through the second, A.Weber, added a goal after a scramble in front of Haskey's goal and T.Burgwinkel along with T.Thomas, in an odd man rush, scored the third goal with a nice wrister right under the crossbar. At the end of the period, M.Burgwinkel, with his 5'th goal of the season, gave the Ducks a commanding 4-0 lead.
As they often say:'he moves...he shoots...he scores' :-)
Third period was kind of different. Lacking a minimum of discipline and always complaining about their game, the Ducks totally lost focus, allowing the opponent to score 3 goals in a row. As a result of unbalanced line shift and not been able to pull the trigger, the game seemed to slip out of their hands, as shown below: With the clock ticking down, the Ducks finally managed to take the game and to extend their winning streak to five games.
'The score didn't reflect the game' defenseman H.C.Stang concedes after the game and added: 'sometimes we adapt to the level of our opponents with no reason, unfortunately we did in this game'.
The Ducks next EHL game is on Wednesday, when they travel to face the IceDogs Geleen (9:30pm) |
